OUR STORY

WHERE IT ALL BEGAN

Michelle's Perspective:
We’re both doctors, but we weren’t working at the same hospital or even in the same city. Nathan is a General Surgeon, and I’m an OB-GYN. The twist? His sister, Lauren, was actually one of my nurses on Labor & Delivery.

I had just started my first solo OB-GYN position when I started getting curious questions from the other nurses on the unit: “Dr. Uzor, are you single?” One of the nurses wanted to set me up with her brother. I had met Lauren once before but didn’t think much of it until she texted me in June 2023 saying she thought her brother and I would be a perfect match.

I said yes to her matchmaking mission, and the rest is history.

Nathan’s Perspective:
Our story started with a blind date at Topgolf in Atlanta, but the real matchmaker was my sister, Lauren. She worked with Michelle on Labor & Delivery and noticed right away that Michelle had a calm presence and strong femininity. She told me, “This woman is exactly your type.”

After finding out she was single, Lauren reached out to her months later. Michelle agreed to connect, and I reached out right away. From our first phone call, I was struck by how grounded, intelligent, and faith-driven she was. Then I saw her in person, and… wow. That radiant smile? I was done. Our connection felt real from the very beginning. If I'm being honest, I knew I was going to marry her after our first date. God had confirmed that for me.

The message that started it all.

Instant Connection

We went from mini-golf to dinner to a rooftop bar, talking for eight straight hours. From that moment on, Nathan planned a new date every single week. It was intentional, romantic, and unforgettable.

From Topgolf to forever — we just clicked.

Snapped by a stranger on our first date. We had no idea where this night would lead.

THE PROPOSAL

Michelle's Memory:
Nathan proposed on our one-year anniversary, on a rooftop in the city that had become special to us. I thought we were just heading to dinner — he said we’d stop for drinks first, but he was rushing me and I couldn’t figure out why.

We walked onto the rooftop and I froze. There were glowing letters, flowers, candles, and cameras. I just cried. I was completely overwhelmed, and honestly, it was the most beautiful moment of my life.

Nathan’s Plan:
I proposed on November 7, 2024, one our 1 year anniversary. I told Michelle we had a tight reservation window, but in reality, I just needed her to get to the rooftop on time. She was frustrated — she wanted pictures in the lobby, not knowing a photographer was already waiting above. With help from her sisters, my sister Lauren, and her best friend Marissa, the setup came together perfectly.

When she saw everything, she started crying through all her makeup and didn’t want to step out at first. But I got her there. Got down on one knee. And asked her to be my wife.

Who We Are Together

Adventurous. Grounded. Affectionate.

We love trying new things — hiking, kayaking, ziplining, and traveling — but we’re also deeply rooted in faith and purpose. As physicians, life is busy, but we make space for affection and connection wherever we can.

From long walks and Sunday church to spontaneous getaways and late-night conversations, we’re always finding joy in the everyday. And on the 7th of every month, we pause for a relationship check-in/date night — to reflect, celebrate, and grow together.

Looking Ahead, Together

As we plan our wedding day, we imagine a moment full of peace, joy, and God’s presence. We want it to feel elegant and intimate, sacred and soulful — surrounded by the people who have walked with us along the way.

Michelle will definitely be the one dancing all night, while Nathan lovingly cheers her on. But the part we both can’t wait for is locking eyes during the ceremony and taking that first step forward into forever.

We can’t wait to celebrate this next chapter with you.

With all our love,

Michelle Uzor & Nathan Hill
